This bike just wants to go! The 29er wheels roll over everything. I searched about 10 different makes and compared them to this one. Great brakes, decent fork, good shifters and rims, great color scheme in black/white/green! The pedals had to be replaced though. they are the same pedals as my sons 20"! No grip when dry, forget it when wet! I can't wait to get the chance to ride it again. I'll just look at it longingly in the garage until then.

I traded in my old Cannondale F500 on the SL4 and can only say, Wow! 29ers are the future of mountain bikes and this bike has a great mix of components to get the job done. It rolls over terrain that had my 26" begging for mercy. The SAVE chain stays really do soak up a lot of rear end chatter. The groupset shifts nice and smooth for an "entry level" set which is all you can really ask for. If I had one gripe, it would be the front fork. The lack of rebound adjustment can make it pack down over a rooted trail section, but a slightly higher level of preload helps this. It's fine for 90% of riders, but if you really hammer the trails on a regular basis, you may want to upgrade that. The rest is fine as-is. I plan to implement my "upgrade only after breaking" philosophy and really doubt I'll have any issues other than self-inflicted casualties.

Purchased recently. Got the bike out on some downhill trails and booked it first day. Loved how easy it is to ride over anything. Definitely a great second bike for me. I can see my confidence going up with a good stable bike such as the SL 4.

i use this product to ride trails 3 times a week.. whats great about it is that you could join bikers with much expensive bikes but still hang with them.. this is my first bike but its up for keeps :)
