'12 Trek 1.2 Compact

Trek's 1.2 Compact is a shining example of trickle-down technology. The heart and soul of this speed demon are Trek's 100 Alpha Series aluminum frame and Bontrager's carbon fork, an impressive combination often seen on much more expensive machines. Add Shimano's reliable compact 18-speed drivetrain, powerful dual-pivot brakes and select Bontrager parts and you have an amazing road rig ready to take you everywhere you want to go, from touring the countryside to cruising local loops for fitness.

Good Value, Entry Level Bike

About Me Commuter

Pros

  • Durable
  • Good value

Cons

  • Components
  • Color

Best Uses

  • Commuting/City
  • Road Biking

Comments:

This bike is great value for an entry level bicycle. The low price comes at a cost of good components though, and you'll soon want to upgrade. This is a great bike for those who aren't really sure if cycling is for them yet. One problem is the (over)use of white paint. The white stains easily and is difficult to clean. It will also need a bunch of small adjustments over the first few months.
